#12 Nonviolent communication - An interview with Markus Fischer
Video in German, subtitles available in English
#LUTTAI - In search of a better world.
Video text: Hello and welcome to LUTTAI. I am Tom and tomorrow I will be posting my first post with an external person in search of ideas or actions that will increase one's own well-being and/or the well-being of as many other humans and/or the well-being of as many other sentient beings as possible without hopefully causing harm to other sentient beings. In such actions I see true intelligence.
I am very much looking forward to this and intend to place a flag of the corresponding idea on this LUTTAI map after each new post with my opinion as to whether this idea or action is likely to increase the well-being, i.e. is intelligent, and if so, for whom. If I am unsure, then I will place the flag here by the question mark and if I think it is an idea that will cause more suffering than good, then I will place the flag here by the minus sign. But I don't expect anyone, not even you, to accept my judgment. On the contrary, I hope that everyone who wants to will draw up such a map for themselves and place the ideas or actions according to their own judgment and ask themselves which actions could increase the well-being on our planet or how we can act intelligently. And if you think that I am making the wrong decision, then I would be grateful if you would inform me so that I can reconsider my view.
I have therefore named the very first flag that I would like to place right here in the center "Open discussion - criticism as a gift - logic and reason - goal = greatest possible well-being of all sentient beings". I am of the opinion that none of us knows the absolute truth and that we probably never will, but that we will find the best solutions in an open discussion in search of good explanations using logic and reason. In doing so, we should be open to criticism, the better argument should count and we should never be too sure of our cause, but always in an effort to increase the well-being of sentient beings here on our earth.
Or to put it in the words of Michael Schmidt-Salomon:
"As much as cultural memplexes may separate us from each other, it is human nature that connects us. We all need clean air to breathe, we all need food to maintain our metabolism. We all feel pain when we are hurt and joy when we can fulfill a long-cherished wish. We all laugh, cry, love, hope and grieve. In short, we all know the weal and woe. And this is precisely the reason why relativism fails in concrete life: it is not arbitrary which values and norms determine how people live together!" (Jenseits von Gut und Böse, p.191)
So in my opinion, a society in which human rights and animal rights exist is much better, or rather much more beneficial. Which is run democratically as opposed to under dictatorship. In which everyone can satisfy as many of their needs as possible, as if this is not the case. And much more. Not everything is relative, but in reality better or worse for the well-being of us humans and other sentient beings.
Of course, there will not be as obvious answers to many questions as in the examples just mentioned, but I would at least like to try to find some sensible, intelligent ideas and actions. And this in the knowledge, as Sam Harris writes in the book "the moral landscape", that there may well be several peaks or sensible solutions and paths. But we should firmly reject some ideas and real events that we currently believe are the cause of suffering and look for more beneficial, more intelligent alternatives and help them to be implemented.
I firmly believe that we humans are still a long way from reaching our potential to turn this world into a paradise on earth and that we still have a lot to do to live up to our name Homo Sapiens, the human being gifted with reason. But I actually think that we can achieve this. We humans are incredibly creative and have the wonderful ability of empathy. What's more, we have the opportunity to be better than we need to be thanks to our enormously broad repertoire of actions.
We can stand up for human rights and freedom of speech, or we can spread racism or cry out for censorship of our differing opinions.
We can try to invent laws or economic systems that distribute wealth more fairly, or we can look for loopholes or opportunities in the system to enrich ourselves personally, in the worst case at the expense of others.
We can campaign for democracy or we can help dictators come to power.
We can destroy the basis of our livelihood, nature, or we can join forces to expand sustainable farming methods and renewable energies.
We can continue to cram our animal relatives into factory farms and exploit them, or we can work to ensure that this form of farming is pushed back further and further and campaign for more intelligent coexistence.
We can blame each other or join hands and look for more sensible solutions together.
I hope that with LUTTAI, among other things, I will do my small part to increase the well-being of our planet in the knowledge that I am not perfect and that my ecological footprint is clearly too high. But I hope that I will find more and more sensible, intelligent ways to shape my actions.
And so I would like to conclude my contribution here with the most beautiful credo I know, it comes from Michael Schmidt-Salomon from his book "Hoffnung Mensch" (p.330) and goes as follows:
«I believe in people
The creators of art
And discoverers of unknown worlds.
I believe in evolution
Of knowledge and compassion
Der Weisheit und des Humors.
I believe in victory
Of the truth over the lie
Of knowledge over ignorance
Of fantasy over narrow-mindedness
And of compassion over violence.
I don't close my eyes
To the horrors of the past
The misery of the present
The challenges of the future
But I believe
That we will find better ways
To alleviate the suffering
To increase happiness
And to preserve life.
I believe in people
Who are the hope of the earth
Not for all eternity
But for millions of years
And if you have followed me this far, then I am very pleased and would like to offer you two of my most important views: Firstly, in my opinion, not a single human being is stupid, because from my point of view, only actions that diminish the well-being of sentient beings can be stupid. Secondly, every Human being is unique, has strengths as well as weaknesses. And we can use every strength and tolerate every weakness as long as it does not lead to the suffering of other sentient beings.
In this spirit, let us unite our strengths and try to create a better world together.
Let us try to act intelligently.

#10 THE MOST INTELLIGENT BOOK?
In the following video I would like to present you in my eyes the most intelligent book "Earth4All – A SURVIVAL GUIDE for Humanity»
This in the hope that you will also read it and help to implement the recommended policies for the well-being of all of us (or at least the majority of us).

#06 LUTTAI Experiment 2021 – Let Us Try To Act Intelligently
Update January 2022: The experiment has "unfortunately" not found favour. I have not found a single application video. As promised, I have transferred the money via the organisation "Effektiv Spenden Schweiz" to the aid organisation GiveDirectly. And I am confident that it will be put to good use.
... and here is the speech text as it should have been exactly :)
Hello I'm Tom
And I wish you a wonderful new year.
I would like to do an experiment in 2021.
I will give away 21'000 USD this year under three requirements.
If I don't find someone who meets these three requirements in my eyes, I will donate the money to the charity "Givedirectly.org" at the end of the year.
So what are my requirements?
- I have a great respect for entrepreneurs. In my eyes, these are people who manage to create something real in the world of things from an idea, and by doing so, they can offer jobs, for example, which enable other people to make a living. My first requirement is therefore that you have to convince me with a business idea, which acts in the sense of the LUTTAI intelligence definition. Which means, you have to show me why your idea increases the well-being of as many fellow human beings and/or as many other sentient beings as possible.
- I have great respect for entrepreneurs, but I have absolutely no respect for the most common economic model, which in my eyes strives for maximum profit maximization and maximum financial wealth. This model has failed catastrophically in my opinion, so many people benefit from it and so many suffer from it. My second condition, therefore, is that you would have to be willing to operate according to an alternative economic model. And this looks something like this, about details we can then gladly talk, or improve this model together.
Everyone in your company, including you, earns the same amount until the point is reached where every employee can be paid the minimum wage of at least the national median wage. If you manage to reach this point with your company, the further profits are divided by 2. Half is given away after deduction of taxes in the same way as I would like to do now with this 21'000 USD. The other half can be used to make provisions for worse times or to make wage increases. The maximum possible wage, including the boss, is 4 times the minimum wage. Some additions you can find on my homepage.
- My 3rd condition is that if I want to support your idea, you have to show me credibly that lack of money prevents you from realizing your idea. An idea is free and can therefore have each of us, money has unfortunately not each of us. I have a bit more money than I need at the moment by pure chance, so I would like to give you some of it if you have a sensible, intelligent idea what to do with it.
If you can accept these three requirements, then please proceed as follows:
Make a short video (I hope you have the resources) preferably in English, and upload it to YOUTUBE or Facebook, Instagram works aswell. The video quality is secondary, what matters to me is your idea.
Please label the title as follows:
- #LuttaiTeamHuman_your country_your name_your idea title.
- First tell me your name and in which country you live.
- Then please explain your business idea to me or to the whole world.
- And then, very important, explain why you think this idea would increase the welfare on this earth.
- Then tell me how much start-up capital you need to begin the work.
- And then include your contact information so that I or we can find you.
I will be on the lookout this year and hope that at least one idea will come to me that I think is worth supporting. I know that 21'000 USD is not even a drop in the bucket, but I hope that many people in the privileged situation like me will look for your video and maybe support you. I also hope that this video will find its way to countries where 21'000 USD are worth more than here in Switzerland. So I thank you already now if you forward it to your friends in such countries.
If someone other than me will support you, then of course you don't have to follow my proposed economic model, it is only one among many possible economic models. I primarily hope that your idea will succeed for the benefit of all of us and then you will also pass on some of your financial success.
If you upload a video, then at the moment three disappointments come to my mind, which could come to you and for which I would like to prepare you.
1. it is possible that I and no one else will respond to your video.
2. it could be that someone else will see your idea and steal it from you and have financial success with it, but not involve you in it. You have to expect this disappointment as well.
For the world, however, it does not primarily matter whether you or I have economic success; what seems important to me is that as many sensible ideas as possible have financial success and that these ideas are then hopefully also embedded in a sensible economic model.
3. The third disappointment can come to you in the form of laughter from your fellow human beings. Unfortunately, some people still tend to laugh at other people and if you go public, then you have to expect that you will also be laughed at. I can only promise you that I will not laugh at you, because you show great courage to share your idea publicly with me, no matter what your idea is.
I too am trying to build a business with LUTTAI, and I too have a high chance of failure, I have not earned a dime with LUTTAI, at least to date. But even if we both fail, I am sure that when we are on our deathbeds one day and look back, we can at least tell ourselves that we tried.
I sincerely hope that you will succeed with your idea. If you get support, please put it in the title of your video like this, so we know you are working and we can support other ideas: "Name of suporter" helpt me, i can start to work now#LuttaiTeamHuman...
That brings me to the end of this video, I will announce at the end of the year at the latest who I will support or if I will donate the money Givedirectly.
Finally I would like to make a free investment tip for all people like me who have a little more money than they need for their desired lifestyle: let's invest at least a part of our money in humanity and not in stocks, I'm pretty sure the dividend will be priceless.
Let's look ahead.
Let's do better.
Let us try to act intelligently.
And now I really hope you have an idea and the courage to share it with me, if you have too little money.
And if you have enough money, I would be very happy if you will also support an idea.
If you find this experiment meaningful or you also want to support ideas financially, then please let me or us know, I think in a team you just feel better. Feel free to use the hashtag: #LuttaiTeamHuman_21000USD.
And now I wish you not only a happy new year, I also wish you enough to eat, a safe home, self-esteem, good health, a family, true friends, a purposeful task, a lot of confidence and love.

#05 i am unique
...and here still the speech text, as it would have been intended actually exactly :)
Hello, I'm Tom
And if you are watching this video, then you either found it by chance, you were sent the link by someone, you were given such an item by someone, you bought it yourself or you were given it by me. I and the person who gave you this item or sent you the link know that you are unique, that your mixture as you embody it exists only once on this earth, even if you have an identical twin sister or brother. And this is not an esoteric wishful thinking of mine, this is a biological fact.
You are unique.
Whether you believe me or not.
I suspect it pleases most of us when another person recognizes in you a unique being.
However, in title of this video and also on these articles I did not write, you are unique, but I am unique and by that I do not mean me and I do not mean this article, although it is also unique. Because I think that while it's nice when other people recognize you as unique, I think it's even more important that you become aware of that for yourself, should that not be the case yet. So you need to read the saying on this item or in the title of this video for yourself. Can you say to yourself "I am unique"? Can you do that?
I think for yourself to realize that you are unique, there is great power in that. I can't say that I always manage to do that, I guess I'm not the only person who sometimes gets caught up in self-doubt, but every now and then I think I recognize it. And I believe that there is a lot of power in this realization. In my opinion, this power has nothing to do with arrogance, because if you recognize for yourself that you are unique, you can also recognize that you have unique strengths but also unique weaknesses. And that is good. None of us is perfect and each of us can benefit from the strengths of other people if we work together and at the same time make our own strengths available to the community.
Therefore, I wish you from the bottom of my heart that you can always rediscover your uniqueness for yourself and that you go through life with a strengthened self-confidence, but at the same time with a strengthened humility, that you do not hide your strengths and that you appreciate the strengths of other people and gratefully accept their help.
You are unique, I know it, but do you know it?
I wish you continued success and strength on this, your journey of discovery.
Happy Journey

#04 no human is stupid
In the following PowerPoint presentation, I first try to explain why I disagree with the current idea of "what intelligence should be". Then I try to show what I think a more meaningful view might look like.
Would you like to give the presentation yourself? You can download the Powerpoint presentation below. You can also download the Microsoft Forms form to perform the questions in the presentation with your audience and view the results immediately:
